About this Event
Join us on the 31st birthday of the UK's only purpose-built gay centre to celebrate three decades of life-saving work. with the LGBT+ communities of Greater Manchester.
Wrap up warm for this insightful and momentous walk, as we learn about the activism that led to this historic centre being built. This gentle walk will take you to key landmarks that mark the significant activities that plot the history of the LGBT+ Centre's inception.
Meeting at the Lloyd Street entrance to the Town Hall, our guide Emily will - quite literally - be waving the rainbow flag as she walks and talks along the route ending at the - now vacant - LGBT+ Centre on Sidney Street. This is your last chance to experience the centre in its original design and construction. Health and Safety pending, you will be able to access the centre, find out about its services and see the witness marks laid bare in the fabric of the building.
Tickets are £10 and include a goody-bag of treats relating to the centre.
